Sonny Gray to the Yankees for Kaprielian, Mateo and Fowler

After excruciating sessions of negotiation, the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics finally agreed on a near-blockbuster trade before the deadline for arguably the best pitcher available in 2017.  The Yankees give up some of their best farm talent but did not give away the house. The Yankees still hold onto their prized prospects in Estevan Florial, Gleyber Torres, and of course Clint Frazier who is already in the Yankees daily lineup.  Gray is on a one-year, $3.6 million deal and becomes a free agent in 2020. He is eligible for arbitration again in 2018-2019.   With this...

Yankees Acquire Jaime Garcia from the Twins to Bolster Rotation

Brian Cashman is getting very little sleep this month wheeling and dealing for the Yankees push to this year’s playoffs, and possibly a World Series. It seems the rebuilding motif for 2017 is long gone as they add Minnesota Twins’ 31 year old LHP Jaime Garcia. Garcia is expected to start right away replacing the back end of the starting rotation, most likely Caleb Smith or Luis Cessa. This is the second time Garcia has been traded this month, having already been sent to Minnesota from the Atlanta Braves. He made just one start for the Twins (officially a...

Yankees Star Aaron Judge: Keeping it Rolling in the 2nd Half

Aaron Judge has been a dynamo for the Yankees offense this season, always in the game, always swinging for the flat screen displays, always diving for the ball.  Judge appeared in 96 of the first 99 games for the Yankees, then went to the All-Star event where he put on a show in the Home Run Derby, and then started the All-Star game the next day.  So Yankees’ fans understood when Judge was rested on Wednesday, but expect, and I do mean expect, him back in the line up today. Prior to the All Star break, Judge put up...

NY Yankees Potential Super Starting Rotation?

As the trade deadline looms, much has been written about Brian Cashman’s options for stabilizing the Yankees rotation while not mortgaging the future of the organization.  Sitting a few games back from their division rivals certainly puts them well within striking distance.  However, one more devastating losing streak could put a stake in any playoff aspirations aside from hedging their bets on a one-game Wildcard opportunity. With names like Yu Darvish & Sonny Gray being floated around in the trade market, I’ve been hearing Yankee fans asking which one should be the primary target.  Cashman has made it known...

Yankees Newest Reliever Tommy Kahnle Set to Have Big Impact

The Yankees and the White Sox made a seven player trade on Tuesday night.   RHP David Robertson, RHP Tommy Kahnle and 3B/1B Todd Frazier were traded to the Yankees for Blake Rutherford, Tito Polo, Tyler Clippard and Ian Clarkin. The 27 year old Latham, NY native Tommy Kahnle may be the most important piece in the trade as a Yankees setup man.  The Yankees bullpen has posted a 4.02 ERA since June 1st. and has blown 18 saves, the most in MLB.  Most importantly, the Yankees are 9-18 in one run games in 2017 after a 2016 in...
