Yankees Clint Frazier: Putting Girardi in a Big Bind

“It’s probably the best taste of baseball I’ve ever had,” Clint Frazier said after his successful debut on July 1st.  Frazier was brought up by the Yankees for the Houston Astros’ series, and Red Thunder, as Frazier is known, garnered his first career hit (a double) and smashed his first big league home run in that game.  The 22 year old Frazier was the first Yankee since 1913 to double and homer in his big league debut. Frazier has described his style of play as “intense,” and has been quoted as saying “I play as hard as I can....

Matt Holliday: Spotlight on Return from DL

Since DH Matt Holliday (along with Starlin Castro and Aaron Hicks) went on the DL on June 28th, the Yankees have sported a disappointing 4-11 record and sputtered on offense, excepting Clint Frazier’s walk off homer on July 8th to beat the Brewers. Holliday has been important to this Yankee team in 2017.  Let’s remember, he’s a former batting champ (2007), NLCS MVP (2007), seven time All-Star and four time Silver Slugger Award winner. Yankees Aaron Judge vs Brewers Brent Suter – Speed Baseball

We wonder if the fans of baseball realize the supreme talent of Aaron Judge. Forget the triple crown possibility with home runs, RBI and batting average, that’s nothing to him. For anyone who’s played baseball out of the Little League levels, “routine” is one of the most precious components to any professional hitter.  This is also true in all sports… golf, basketball, football, billiards, etc…. Here, Brent Suter was rushing hitters and getting set quickly, so Aaron calls an audible, and decides to not walk out of the batters box, NOR take any time to reset himself after the...

Pitching Preview: RHP Junior Guerra vs LHP Jordan Montgomery

The Yankees and Jordan Montgomery (6-4, 3.62 ERA) will match-up against the Brewers’ 32 year old RHP Junior Guerra tonight (1-3, 4.93 ERA).  Guerra relies primarily on his 4-seam fastball (92 mph) and mixes in a sinker (92 mph), splitter (84 mph) and slider (81 mph).  Guerra is the Brewers’ ace, and was the opening day starter in 2017.  However, while 2016 was his break-out season, he has struggled recently with both his velocity and location, leading to some poor outings.  In his last outing against the Marlins, his fastball velocity dipped to 90 mph from his 92 mph...
