Fireballer Chapman and Yankees Pitchers Just Cant Miss Right with Pitch Locations

We have heard a lot about Aroldis Chapman in the Yankees loss to the Red Sox 3-2, how he was feeling good, how he made good pitches, and how the home run ball he gave up at 103 mph to rookie Rafael Devers was a “good pitch.”  This was even agreed upon by most fans who watched the game and saw the play happen live. I beg to differ. As we have all seen, hitters have adapted over the last 10 years. More pitchers are throwing over 98 mph than ever before. As with ANY pitcher, location is still...

NY Jets Play McCown, Hackenberg & Petty while Defense’s 8 Sacks Sink Titans 7-3

The NY Jets come into the 2017 season with low expectations, with rumors of tanking for a top QB prospect in the 2018 draft, labeling this more officially, and politically, as a rebuilding year.  However, as expected by some, the defense came to play and stifled the Tennessee Titans and Marcus Mariota.  The duo of Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye is the real thing.  While they didn’t show up in the box score to a tremendous degree, they quietly limited Marcus Mariota for the entirety of his time on the field. So much of what a safety does rarely...

Yankees Welcome Back Aaron Hicks in Spectacular Comeback vs Red Sox

The Yankees offense has been the source of ridicule and frustration.  Highly inconsistent and especially inept with runners in scoring position since the All Star Break.  Yankees manager Joe Girardi has mixed and matched, pinch hit and adjusted the lineup order almost daily, amidst the injuries and hot and cold hitters, coupled with the slumping Aaron Judge.  But tonight in the heated Boston – New York rivalry, the Yankees offense finally showed up after what seemed like another night of impotent flailing at various pitches from Red Sox’s starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, to come back in the 8th inning...

Sonny Gray to the Yankees for Kaprielian, Mateo and Fowler

After excruciating sessions of negotiation, the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics finally agreed on a near-blockbuster trade before the deadline for arguably the best pitcher available in 2017.  The Yankees give up some of their best farm talent but did not give away the house. The Yankees still hold onto their prized prospects in Estevan Florial, Gleyber Torres, and of course Clint Frazier who is already in the Yankees daily lineup.  Gray is on a one-year, $3.6 million deal and becomes a free agent in 2020. He is eligible for arbitration again in 2018-2019.   With this...

Yankees Acquire Jaime Garcia from the Twins to Bolster Rotation

Brian Cashman is getting very little sleep this month wheeling and dealing for the Yankees push to this year’s playoffs, and possibly a World Series. It seems the rebuilding motif for 2017 is long gone as they add Minnesota Twins’ 31 year old LHP Jaime Garcia. Garcia is expected to start right away replacing the back end of the starting rotation, most likely Caleb Smith or Luis Cessa. This is the second time Garcia has been traded this month, having already been sent to Minnesota from the Atlanta Braves. He made just one start for the Twins (officially a...
